“Following the passing of our beloved mother, Julianne, my sisters and I spent time searching for a funeral home that could appropriately honour and respect her last wishes. "We came to Megan and the Salvos Funeral Services through the most sad and tragic of circumstances. The unexpected death of a young adult leaves you absolutely reeling, nothing makes sense, you don’t know what, let alone how, you are meant to sort anything out.
I had been unaware of the Salvos services and was so grateful, and calmed, when Megan came all the way out to us and just sat with my husband and me and gently took us through all the various options. Her kindness, knowledge, professionalism and attention to detail truly could not have been faulted. She made us feel that with her support we could and would get through… and we did. We were guided through all the difficult decisions and choices that had to be made from coffin to flowers to order of service, music, refreshments and a myriad of others we would not have thought of ourselves.
Despite her own religious convictions, and obviously those of the Salvation Army, there was no problem at all with us not wanting any religious component to our service. We were recommended a wonderful civil celebrant who worked with us and Megan to get for us what felt right.
I cannot recommend the service we received highly enough. The fact that it is a not for profit service ensures that there is no possibility of feeling in any way over serviced – there is nothing for the Salvos to gain by doing so. There is also the opportunity, where families are able, to perhaps donate some of what might have been spent on a for profit service to the Funeral Hardship Fund. Anything they receive into that fund goes towards helping families who are really struggling with the cost of a funeral for their loved one.
We will be forever grateful to Megan and her team for the care, support, guidance and exemplary service we received."
