Funeral Services in Sydney
Salvos Funerals offers a range of affordable options to suit your budget and needs. There are different types of arrangements you can choose from.
One is a direct cremation where nobody is in attendance. A memorial service could be arranged later, perhaps with the ashes present.
The other options are different kinds of funerals. A funeral is where the coffin is present in the ceremony.
A basic funeral and cremation is available in Smeaton Grange, next to Narellan, and in Tuggerah. It is for up to eight people only.
A personalised funeral might be a simple service or something more unique. It might take place in a church, chapel or other location and could be followed by either a burial or cremation.
Below are estimates and examples for your consideration. If you would prefer a tailored quote, please contact us and we can discuss this further. We are also required by NSW Fair Trading to provide a Funeral Information Standard with our prices. If you would like to review our catalogue and price list of coffins and caskets, please click here.

Note 1: If you would like to arrange a funeral and cremation for a small number of people (normally up to six people), we can arrange one at a lower cost than a conventional funeral in certain locations. Alternatively, if you would like us to assist with a memorial service (where no coffin is present), we can also do so at a reduced cost than the pricing listed above. If either of these options is of interest, please contact us to find out more. Note 2: families wanting a funeral at a crematorium but looking to minimise the cost can choose to have the “coffin in place” prior to the service starting. Transport is by van from the mortuary/holding room to crematorium. For operational reasons, it may be that the coffin is transported with other coffins at the same time. The coffin is delivered discreetly to the crematorium and kept in a holding area. Prior to the start of the service, the coffin is put in place in the chapel. Note 3: if a funeral takes place in a Catholic church building, some ask for a donation to the church starting from $200. This is in addition to the donation for the priest. -

Note 1: When finding a cemetery, families tend to choose one that is close to where they live. Council-owned cemeteries and cemeteries outside of Sydney tend to be the least expensive option. The average interment cost for most major cemeteries in Sydney is $2,770, Central Coast is $1,310 and Newcastle and Lake Macquarie is $1,660. Note 2: Interment / grave-digging and burial plot are payable to the cemetery directly by the family. Note 3: if a funeral takes place in a Catholic church building, some ask for a donation to the church starting from $200. This is in addition to the donation for the priest. Note 4: When interment is in a family crypt or mausoleum, there are specific additional fees that apply. Whilst a Richmond coffin can be used, a solid hardwood timber coffin such as a Sienna coffin is recommended for a greater assurance of longevity - see our coffin and casket catalogue here. Cemetery fees vary significantly.
